What a find in Carlisle Street Balaclava, a Mexican deli (restaurant coming later in the year run by Mexicans!)
Fresh corn tortillas, out of this world salsas, frejoles (pinto and black beans) and skulls galore! I it feels like a little bit of Mexico had come to this part of town.
The Mexican delicacies are reason enough to venture to Carlisle Street Balaclava, but there’s plenty more to do. Excellent coffee, pastries, sourdough bread from Baker in the Rye and number of cool, quirky shops. A stroll down Carlisle Street is sure to delight.

Get there from the city on the train, Sandringham line, get off at Balaclava Station. Or take the Number 3 Tram down St Kilda Road Note: during week of 8 to 13 June track works in Carlisle and Chapel Streets will disrupt this line. So best take the train. Otherwise I highly recommend the tram, to get the experience of St Kilda Road.
